Den forne UFC-mästaren Sean Strickland gick under lördagsnatten match på UFC 302 i Newark, New Jersey. Amerikanen tog sig an den tidigare titelutmanaren Paulo Costa i galans delade huvudmatch. Matchen mot Costa var Stricklands första match sedan han förlorade titel sydafrikanen mot Dricus du Plessis på UFC 297 tidigare i år.
Costa hade stora svårigheter att hantera Stricklands konstanta press under matchens gång. Strickland vann till slut matchen via enhälligt domslut efter en gedigen instas.

DC wants Strickland to cage cut and not follow, but forcing Costa to pedal backwards – especially in the first – seems intentional. Strickland cage cut against Izzy. He's forcing Costa to work and likely ratchet up offense the longer the fight goes.
