Under gårdagen avslöjade UFC-chefen Dana White att den topprankade brasilianaren Paulo Costa dragit sig ur matchen mot Khamzat Chimaev på UFC 294. Khamzat kommer istället att ta sig an den forne mästaren i weltervikt Kamaru Usman.
Usman kommer senast från två raka förluster mot den nuvarande mästaren Leon Edwards. Innan dess försvarade nigerianen sin titel vid fem olika tillfällen. Usman anses vara en av de bästa welterviktarna i UFC:s historia.

Khamzat kommer på UFC 294 att gå sin första match sedan vinsten mot Kevin Holland på UFC 279 i september förra året. Khamzat är hittills obesegrad inom den världsledande MMA-organisationen och har ett matchfacit på 12-0.
I galans huvudmatch kommer den nuvarande mästaren i lättvikt Islam Makhachev att ta sig an fjäderviktsmästaren Alexander Volkanovski. Makhachev var egentligen tänkt att ta sig an Charles Oliveira på UFC 294. Brasilianaren tvingades dock att dra sig ur matchen på kort varsel på grund av en ansiktsskada.
