Efter mycket om och men ser det ut som att vi får en returmatch mellan Nate Diaz och Conor McGregor, dock på UFC 202 istället för UFC 200. Nyligen deltog de på en presskonferens inför galan och här är några av höjdpunkterna:

Presskonferensen var 45 minuter försenad, vilket knappast hör till ovanligheterna när det gäller Conor McGregor (19-3). Dana White hade följande att säga om förseningen: ”I’m not surprised, motherfuckers”.
Det var även ordentliga problem med ljudet, vilket medförde att Nate Diaz (19-10) knappt hörde någon av frågorna och därför inte heller gav särskilt många eller ingående svar. Det var The McGregor Show igen, helt enkelt.
McGregor fick frågan vad han har gjort annorlunda inför returmatchen, jämfört med det första mötet.
”I’ve simply prepared a little bit more specific. Usually, I don’t prepare for a specific opponent – everyone I face pulls out. This time, I’m preparing for a tall, lanky, ugly Mexican southpaw. That’s it, a lot more specific.
All my sparring partners are six foot plus. I’m sparring middleweights for this contest, so I feel that extra weight. This time, I’m going to be a lot more prepared for the size, the weight and the distance. One thing I underestimated was durability and his experience. I will not make that same mistake again.”
Han frågades även varför han insisterade på att även ha returmatchen i 170 punds (77 kg).
”What kind of fighter would I be if I lost a contest and then I said ’Well, you got me this time, cut a lot of weight and I’ll get you at that weight’? It makes sense for me to have the contest at 170, to right the wrong. To leave no questions. This is where I put everything to rest.”
McGregor tillfrågades också om sin framtid i fjäderviktsdivisionen, där han för närvarande är mästare.
”I giggle when they try to take that credit from me, for going up and fighting at 170 pounds. Make no mistake, I am the undisputed 145 pound UFC champion. And that is my division – a division I have destroyed. I will continue to dominate that division.”
Returmatchen var ursprungligen bokad till UFC 200, men den ställdes då in efter att McGregor vägrat delta på en presskonferens. Han fick frågan om huruvida han hade gjort saker och ting annorlunda i efterhand.
”There was other stuff going on. I witnessed a tragedy inside the cage, my teammate was involved in it. We just wanted to get away and focus on doing what we love – training and studying martial arts.
What I would have done differently would be communicating a little bit better. I think if I would have reached out and said it man to man it would have played better.
I feel I played a bit wrong, they also played it wrong. I’ve done an awful lot for the company, I carried 2015 on my back. The reason there’s a 4,2 billion price tag on the company is because of me. I believe that’s what the Chinese estimate my net worth at. I feel I deserved a little bit of leeway. But I didn’t communicate my point well. It is what it is, it’s in the past, here we are.
