Det var länge prat om att det skulle anordnas en match mellan Conor McGregor och Floyd Mayweather men efter att den första matchen blev klar mot Nate Diaz blev det tyst – Förrän nu.
När Conor McGregor på nytt fick frågan om den potentiella matchen med Floyd Mayweather svarade han att han skulle kunna tänka sig att möta den obesegrade boxaren, så länge han fick $ 100 miljoner (846 689 662,69 SEK).

McGregor sa också att det var okej för dem båda att mötas under boxningsregler men att Mayweather gömde sig bakom dem:
”If you want to fight me, we can fight,” sa McGregor. ”If you need a specific rule set to protect you from a true fight, that’s no problem. Just make sure that money is there. As long as that money is there, then we can fight under your safety net of rules. But me, I don’t need rules. I am the f*cking rules.”
Det är inte första gången som McGregor får utmanare från olika grenar av kampsporten:
I’ve got the boxing community saying I can’t box. And then I say, OK, let’s fight. ‘Oh well, you can’t kick or elbow or grapple. As long as you can’t do that, then we box your ass up.’ OK then. And then I’ve got the grappling community saying I can’t grapple. So I say, OK let’s fight. And then the grappling community be like, ‘Well, you can’t box or kick. As long as you can’t do that, then we grapple your ass up.’ All these people saying I can’t do this and I can’t do that. I say, well let’s fight then. You got all of these rules. They need to bring in rules to protect them. I don’t need rules to protect me. I can fight any way.”
Floyd Mayweather har själv visat sig vara intresserad
Det skulle ha varit lätt att avfärda McGregors uttalanden som publicitetsstunt om det inte vore för att det var Mayweather själv som postade ett numera bortplockat Instagram-inlägg där båda slagskämparna syntes.
Mayweather gillar precis som McGregor att visa sitt överflöd av bilar och klockor och en potentiell match, vare sig det är mot McGregor eller någon annan, skulle markera hans 50 match.
Pengar borde inte vara ett hinder för den 39-åriga boxaren som genererat mer än $1,311,000,000 (11 101 499 077,54 SEK) i vinst genom PPV-försäljningar och en matchning mellan dem vore en enorm kassasuccé för alla inblandade.
Dana White har dock tidigare sagt att han inte blivit tillfrågad av Mayweather och att ingen match kommer att ske utan hans inblandning. Fram tills dess får vi njuta av UFC 202 och Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor.
