WSoF:s bantamviktsmästare Marlon Moraes vill till UFC: "Ser mig som topp fem i världen"

Marlon Moraes hoppas på ett framgångsrikt titelförsvar nu i helgen men tänker samtidigt på tiden efter det. Kontakt finns med UFC och brasilianaren ser sig själv tävla med världens bästa bantamviktare inom kort.

Marlon Moraes (15-4-1) försvarar sitt bantamviktsbälte mot Joseph Barajas (12-1) på WSoF 28 nu i helgen och hoppas höja på ett par ögonbryn. Inte bara inom den egna organisationen utan från andra, betydligt större aktörer.

27-årige Moraes hoppas nämligen på ett telefonsamtal från UFC inom en inte alltför avlägsen framtid.

“I see myself in the top 5 or 10 in the world. They have many good athletes, but I find myself in a position to fight with these guys. I want to win, my goal is always to improve, learn, evolve. Not only want to fight them, I want to beat them. We think, of course, in the world’s biggest event.Many athletes aim to get there one day, mine is also this. I do not want to be the best, I want to prove I’m the best, so I have to get there. When the time comes, I’ll be ready. I’m preparing as if the chance came tomorrow, but the day comes, I’ll be ready. There has been contact [UFC], but as I am under contract, and the relationship was always respect [mellan UFC och WSOF], we’ll see. Let’s keep fighting and see what happens. You can not deny that, like any other fighter, the dream is rather get in the UFC.”

I dagsläget har Moraes två matcher kvar på sitt kontrakt med WSoF, efter det kan vad som helst hända.

“I have two fights in the contract, but you never know tomorrow, I want to make this fight, and I want to fight as often as possible. I’ve asked to fight four times this year, I’m young, I want to enjoy. I’m healthy, uninjured and want to fight four times. Still do not know what will happen.Maybe after this fight make a category in the top or even above two categories. I want to see after this fight. I am prepared to fight the roosters, feathers and light. I see that I can fight with any athlete, so I’m hoping – guaranteed.”
