Anser att Till borde jobba sig upp
Nu säger ”Wonderboys” far och tränare, Ray Thompson, att hans son möjligen har två brutna tummar – alternativt skadade ligament – efter helgens domslutsvinst över Jorge Masvidal. Thompson ska träffa läkaren nu på torsdag.
Vidare menar Ray Thompson att han inte är ett dugg intresserad av att se matchen mot Till härnäst. Han vill istället se Thompson möta någon högre rankad – medan Till bör jobba sig upp.
“We’ve talked to no one [about fighting Till]. Not sure how this is a ‘done deal.’ As for Till, he needs to fight through the murderers row at welterweight like ‘Wonderboy’ did to get to the top,” sa Ray Thompson i en intervju med MMA Fightings Ariel Helwani och fortsatte:
“We want to fight forward. We’ve been calling out [Robbie] Lawler since before the first Woodley fight and have gotten crickets on it. Why? Why hasn’t anyone talked to us about it? No one from the UFC, no one from Lawler’s camp, no one. ‘Wonderboy’ had one of the most fantastic, exciting fights when he fought [Tyron] Woodley at UFC 205. That fight stole the show. The second fight was a snoozefest, mostly because Wonderboy chased Woodley around the Octagon for five rounds. We take part of the blame since we didn’t pull the trigger often enough. Since then we feel like we are being moved out of title contention. Not saying that’s the case but it sure looks that way. What happened to the rankings?”

Enligt Helwanis källor nära Till ska inte heller den engelsmannen ha kontaktats av UFC. Till är dock den som utmanade ”Wonderboy”.

Los Angeles Times Lance Pugmire, som var först med att rapportera om nyheten från Whites intervju, gick senare ut och klargjorde att UFC vill se Till fightas i sin hemstad Liverpool härnäst. Organisationen ska enligt uppgifter försöka boka Echo Arena för en gala med Till som huvudattraktion – men något datum är inte helt klart ännu.
White sa dock att galan som skulle ha gått av stapeln i Orlando, Florida, den 24 februari (UFC on FOX 28) kommer att flyttas till Liverpool. Enligt White ska detaljerna kring flera matcher – inklusive Thompson vs. Till – redas ut i ett möte under onsdagen.

UFC gick nyligen ut och offentliggjorde en gala i London som planeras gå av stapeln den 17 mars. Det är för närvarande oklart om organisationen kommer att flytta det eventet till Liverpool – eller om England kommer att få två UFC-besök.
