Efter matchen mot Josh Burkman (27-12-1) på UFC Fight Night 74 som Patrick Cote (22-9) vann via TKO i tredje ronden vill Cote möta Hector Lombard (34-4-1-2) och förklarar nu varför.
Cote berättar att Lombard ville möta honom för ett år sedan, men att det inte var rätt tid för dom att mötas, men nu när Cote närmar sig topp 15 passar den matchen.

“A year ago he called me (out) for absolutely nothing,” Cote told MMAjunkie. “It was my second fight at welterweight. I don’t know if he didn’t have any fight or he needs money or something like that. He called me for no reason and at the time this fight didn’t make any sense for me, and especially for him. He was top five or top six and he called me and I wasn’t even in top 15.”
“I’m getting closer to top 15, maybe I’m going to be there after tonight, we’ll see. But I think now this fight makes sense now. You know what? He’s going to come back in January and I can say tonight I’m ready to accept this challenge for sure.”
Cote blev den förste fightern att avsluta Burkman via slag och det är Cote glad för.
“I’m happy I’m the first one to knock him out in his career,” Cote said. “For sure.”
