En två år lång avstängning för att ha erkänt användning av tillväxthormon är enligt Mirko ”Cro Cop” Filipovic inte rättvis då han testade negativt för det.
Kroaten Mirko ”Cro Cop” Filipovic (31-11-2, 1 NC), som just nu är mitt uppe i träningen inför Rizin World Grand-Prix 2016 i september fick en två år lång avstängning av USADA för att ha erkänt användning av tillväxthormon för att skynda på sin axels läkande inför matchen mot Anthony Hamilton (15-5) på UFC Fight Night 79, dock testade han negativt för det. På The MMA Hour igår sade han att det inte är rättvist att han får en lika lång avstängning som någon som testat positivt.

”The whole thing that happened with USADA, it just isn’t supposed to happen. It just isn’t supposed to happen. I could be warned. I could be, at the end of the day, suspended a few months. Six months, whatever. But when your test comes completely negative and you suspend that person for two years, the same sentence like some other fighters who was caught after the fight, so they did the fight under doping, under prohibited substances that was found in their body. And they get the same suspension? That isn’t justice.”
Som ett exempel ger han situationen kring Brock Lesnar (6-3) som hann med matchen mot Mark Hunt (12-11-1) på UFC 200 innan det positiva dopingtestet kom tillbaka. Lesnar har än så länge endast fått en tillfällig avstängning av USADA men attackeras samtidigt på två fronter då han väntar sig något straff från Nevada Athletic Commission då testet gjordes i nära anslutning till matchen i ”Sin City”. Men Cro Cop tycker alltså att det fortfarande inte är rättvist.
”They were caught after the fight. So they put the money in their pocket, they fought, they earned the money and they get the same sentence like I did. It’s not fair. But let’s not talk about it anymore. I just had to mention it. From my point of view, that is not justice.”
Cro Cop kan avslöja att han har fått ett erbjudande om ett kortare straff av USADA, om han anger andra fighters för användning av förbjudna preparat, ett erbjudande som han inte gillar över huvud taget.
”Offering a fighter that the suspension will be reduced if I snitched on someone, it is below every level. That’s how I see it. If I’m guilty punish me, but don’t come with that kind of offer. And if you punish me for being completely negative, which means i didn’t use any prohibited substance, you cannot give me the same punish [as others].”
Trots allt detta är han redo att lägga detta bakom sig.
”I did nothing wrong. At the end of the day, who cares? It’s behind me. What happened happened. It’s behind me now.”
