Cub Swanson tycker att det finns många andra slagskämpar som borde ha en plats i UFC före lördagens motståndare Artem Lobov, och menar att ryssen inte skulle varit med i organisationen om det inte vore för Lobovs koppling till UFC:s superstjärna Conor McGregor:
”There are so many more deserving people to be in the UFC”, säger Swanson.

Förutom Conor McGregor och Gunnar Nelson har SBG Ireland producerat UFC-fjäderviktaren Artem Lobov (13-12-1, 1 NC). ”The Russian Hammer” har ett record på 2-2 i UFC och tog sin senaste seger mot Teruto Ishihara i November förra året. Lobov möter nu #4-rankade fjäderviktaren Cub Swanson (24-7) i sin nästa match i en uppgörelse där de flesta håller Swanson som favorit.
Swanson själv anser att det finns flera andra som förtjänar en plats före ryssen i UFC – dessutom menar han att Lobov aldrig skulle ha fått chansen i lördagens huvudmatch på UFC Fight Night 108 i Nashville, Tennessee om det inte vore för Lobovs koppling till den irländske superstjärnan McGregor:
“I don’t believe that talent-wise he shouldn’t be in the UFC,” uppger Swanson på The MMA Hour. “I feel like with his record and things like that there are so many more deserving people to be in the UFC. So somebody else in that situation, if it wouldn’t have been for Conor, he would have had to stream together a lot more wins and do a lot more things. So I think people are pissed off about that. I particularly don’t like him for that.”
“When you treat your career early on really crappy, you can’t expect to be in a good position,” fortsätter Swanson. “That’s just the way pro fighting is. So, I mean, I don’t think it’s a lack of skill set. I just think it was a lack of taking care of his record and doing all the things at the right time.”

Swanson hoppas nu få göra ett exempel av Lobov på lördag, då han tycker att ryssen låtsas vara någon han inte är:
“Because he’s trying to be somebody, like a lot of these young guys are trying to be somebody that they’re not,” menar Swanson. “And he’s trying to talk crap. You know, he called me a bitch and he said I had no balls. I feel like those two things aren’t true statements. If feel like if you’re going to call me out on something, call me out on something that’s true, but those aren’t true. To me it’s just ridiculous, and I’d like to make an example out of him.”
