Joe Schilling är övertygad om att både Nick Diaz och ”idioter” i nämnden har livsförändringar att se fram emot.
Efter Nick Diaz (26-9) fem år långa avstängning som följd av ett positivt marijuanatest är många i och utanför sporten upprörda. En av de är Joe Schilling (2-5 MMA, 18-7 kickboxning) som inte tror avstängningen håller länge.
Inför helgens Glory 24 hade han detta att säga om saken:
”I don’t believe for a second that the ruling will stick. It will be overturned and some of the idiots on the commission will be changed out. It will be good for the sport. It is inconvenient for Nick but I think his stock with the sport and the UFC can only increase through this. I think he will fight again soon and he will be worth more money than he was before.”
Fortsatt ser han det som löjligt att marijuana överhuvudtaget anses vara prestationshöjande med tanke på att ett flertal stater i USA legaliserat drogen på senare tid.
”It’s a huge issue right now in combat sports. America is on it’s way to legalizing marijuana, medically and recreationally. It is obviously not a PED. Nobody who has ever smoked pot believes that it is a performance enhancing drug. That is just ridiculous.”
