Glover Teixeira är för närvarande inplanerad att gå en match mot Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson på UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Dodson som går nu i helgen. För Rampage är detta den sista matchen i hans UFC-karriär, men för Teixeira är det här en väg till hans slutgiltiga mål – Titeln.
”I think about becoming the champion, of course,” säger Teixeira till UFC. ”Whoever doesn’t think of becoming champion doesn’t train. The dream is to become champion and get that belt and celebrate with my friends. But you can’t let it take over your mind. You have to know that there are ups and downs. You can’t think about it all the time, you must fight each fight. You must let the time come, otherwise you will be stuck to it.”

”The belt is a dream that we all have but we must let things flow. Because when the time comes you can’t feel too pressured. I think that happens to a lot of fighters. They let the pressure affect them. Because it’s all they want. I want the belt very badly. But I don’t think about it right now. I fight each fight that comes, day by day. When the opportunity comes I will focus on it. When the time comes I will be ready for it. And hopefully this day will come soon, maybe this year or the next.”
Så även om Teixeira har sitt fokus uppe på toppen så är det här en match han inte ser förbi. Motståndare Rampage är någon han dessutom sett upp till väldigt länge.
”Rampage is a great fighter, a fighter that I admire a lot. I always watched his fights, since the beginning. I always thought he was a good fighter. He is an exciting fighter for the fans. His style is always exciting. It will be an honor to fight against him. It will be an opportunity to put on a great show. I am very happy to fight against him.”
