Frankie Edgar är överraskad över att UFC inte promotade hans match mot Urijah Faber mer

I helgen avgjordes UFC Fight Night 66 och där tog den tidigare lättviktsmästaren Frankie ”The Answer” Edgar (19-4-1) en av sin karriärs största skalper när han besegrade den förre WEC-mästaren Urijah ”The California Kid” Faber (32-8) via ett enhälligt domslut. I den senaste upplagan av ”The MMA Hour” med Ariel Helwani säger Edgar att han tycker att UFC hade kunnat promota matchen betydligt mer samt att han tycker att Dana White borde varit vid galan.

UFC Fight Night 66 avgjordes i helgen i Manilla, Filippinerna, och där möttes två MMA-legendarer när Frankie ”The Answer” Edgar tog emot Urijah ”The California Kid” Faber i en fjäderviktsmatch. Edgar dominerade matchen genom alla fem ronder med sin överlägsna boxning och nedtagningar och lyckades därmed bli den förste som någonsin vann över Faber i en match där inte titeln stod på spel. Trots segern så säger Edgar att han tycker att UFC hade kunnat göra betydligt mer för att promota mötet: ”I thought more could have been done to be honest. For them to kind of miss the oppurtunity to get it out there it was kind a surprise. Sure the fight sold itself but a little extra boost could have helped, we were fighting in the morning. It couldn’t have hurt to promote this one more”, säger Edgar till Ariel Helwani.

Dana White var heller inte närvarande vid galan trots att det var UFC:s debut i Filippinerna vilket Edgar inte uppskattade eftersom White sagt till fjäderviktaren att han skulle vara där. På frågan om han var besviken över det svarade han så här:”A little bit. Because I asked him if he would be in the Philippines and he said yes. So I was a little disappointed that he was not there because he was not there for the Cub-fight either. He did say afterwards that he was sorry that he could not make it, but I said that’s ok, you will be there for my next fight because it will be for the title”.
