Tungviktsmästaren Fabricio Werdum vill att nästa titelutmanare ska avgöras av en turnering.
För lite över en månad sedan på UFC 188 besegrade Fabricio Werdum (20-5-1) dåvarande tungviktsmästaren Cain Velasquez (13-2). I en intervju berättar Werdum att han vill antingen ha en rematch mot Velasquez eller en turnering för att avgöra nästa titelutmanare:
”I said a rematch (against Cain Velasquez), but I think the best way is to have 4 guys (fight) for the title shot. Dos Santos, Miocic, Cain Velasquez, and Arlovski. These guys fight each other. Like, Miocic vs. Cain Velasquez, and dos Santos vs. Arlovski. Who(ever) is the best one and fights a good fight, the best performance fights with me, and that’s it.”
Om Werdums förslag skulle gå igenom skulle det ta lång tid innan det blir bestämt om vem som skulle bli nästa titelutmanare. Werdum vill gärna att det ska ta sin tid för då kan han vila ut:
”I need (time off).”
”This wasn’t like a one camp for three months. This was a camp for a long time. I trained seven years for this moment. I just want to recover my body and my mind. I want to enjoy my family. I just want a little time to enjoy my belt, but I’ll fight anyone no problem.”
Enligt UFCs tungviktsranking är de högst rankade efter mästaren Cain Velasquez som etta, Junior Dos Santos tvåa, Stipe Miocic trea och Andrei Arlovski på fjärdeplats.
