UFCs President deltog tidigare i veckan vid talkshowen ”The Herd” där han diskuterade potentiella framtida matcher för Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz och Floyd Mayweather, samt beskrev hur lönesystemet i UFC fungerar.
UFCs President Dana White intervjuades tidigare i veckan av Colin Cowheard vid talkshowen ”The Herd”. White diskuterade den eventuellt kommande rematchen mellan Conor McGgregor och Nate Diaz, det potentiella mötet mellan McGregor och fjäderviktsboxaren Floyd Mayweather, samt beskrev hur han tänker när han avlönar organisationens fighers.

White berättar att när han och bröderna Fertitta köpte UFC under år 2001 så var företaget bankrupt och de fighters som fanns kontrakterade fightades för att de älskade det.
”When we bought this company the company was bankrupt, and the early pioneers, the Chuck Liddell’s and the Matt Hugheses, they did this because the loved it and they were passionate about MMA. Then we came in and bought it and built it into a sport, into a global sports phenomenon”.
White berättar att lönerna inom UFC har stigit rejält i takt med att sporten växt, och beskriver att lönesystemet ser ut på ett sätt som gör att fighters som inte når hela vägen i sin karriär ofta klagar:
”Fighter pay has gone like this (pekar mot taket). The problem with professional fighting is, the guys who are really good and stand out makes millions of dollars, but the other guys says: ’Why didn’t I make millions of dollars?’ The answer is: ’You weren’t good enough, you weren’t good enough and not enough people cared while you were fighting’”.
White säger att han blivit kritiserad från många håll sedan den dagen han tog över som UFCs president, men tillägger att fightingbranschen är en speciell bransch och att det inte går att vara alla till lags.
”When you are the boss you are never going to be the most popular guy. Everybody is not going to be happy all of the time”…”This isn’t a normal sport this is fighting”.
I slutet av intervjun berättar White att en eventuell match mellan UFCs nuvarande fjäderviktsmästare Conor McGregor och boxningsfenomenet Floyd Mayweather inte kommer att bli av utan hans hjälp.
”Floyd’s got to call me. I am the only one who can make this fight. He is not fighting Conor McGregor without calling me”.
