En kandidat till det viktigaste jobbet inom MMA har nämnts, i alla fall om man ska tro vad den nuvarande VD:en har att säga om saken.
Då UFCs VD Dana White börjar närma sig pensionsåldern har det länge spekulerats om vem som potentiellt hade kunnat ersätta honom. När han själv tillfrågades igår av MMAJunkie hade han ett intressant förslag:
“I think Chael would be fantastic. The thing is with Chael, though, is that he over-exaggerates too much, and you don’t know what’s real and what’s not.
Chael is obviously a passionate guy,” “I think he loves [the sport], and he’s great.”

Men även om jobbet hade varit ett enormt karriärlyft för Chael Sonnen (28-14-1 MMA, 7-6 UFC), så var White noga med att lyfta fram vikten av Sonnens nuvarande bidrag till sporten och möjligheterna det för med sig.
“Let me tell you what, Chael has so many opportunities right now, he wouldn’t even have time. “If I left tomorrow, and they said, ”Hey, we want you to run this thing,” he’s got a lot of big opportunities out there right now. It’s wide open for him.”
”The guy never turns down a fight; he never says no. Doesn’t matter who it is. I could call him tomorrow and tell him he’s fighting Cain (Velasquez), and he’ll take the fight.
He’s the best, man. He’s a great guy. But on the flip side, he’s got a lot of opportunities that others don’t.”
Om sin egen situation och tankar kring framtiden var White, i vanlig ordning, mindre pratglad:
“People have been predicting my burnout for a very long time. It hasn’t happened yet – I don’t see it happening.”
Hur fans hade mottagit ett sådant beslut återstår att se. Kan ni tänka er en värld där P:et i Chael P. Sonnen faktiskt står för ”President”?
