Charmaine Tweet (6-4) och Ronda Rousey (10-0) möttes 2011, där Rousey vann via armbar på under minuten, men det var omständigheter kring fighten som ledde till dålig stämning mellan båda fighters.
Tweet ger beröm till Rousey för allt hon har gjort för WMMA, men medger att hon inte är något stort fan av Rousey.

“No,not overly [a fan of Rousey],” Sa Tweet. “She’s done a lot for female MMA, obviously. But we have a history, her and I. I remember somebody told me that they read an entry she did talking about who she didn’t get along with – which one of her opponents – and there was only two. Obviously there was Miesha Tate, and I guess the other one was me.”
Tweet förklarar att den dåliga stämningen beror på att Rousey ville ur sitt kontrakt som hon hade skrivit på för att möta Tweet, men att Tweet inte ville låta henne göra det.
“That was back when Gina (Carano) was slated to come back in Strikeforce and couldn’t get medical clearance,” Sa Tweet. “The fight was the night after our fight, so Strikeforce went knocking on her door and said, ‘Can you come fight with us?’ She was already in a contract with me. My organization that I was fighting for came to me and said, ‘Do you want to let her out of the contract?’ And I went, ‘Um, no.’ That’s why we sign a contract – so if a better offer comes along you don’t just jump out of it and take that better offer.”
“Things got a little heated when I wouldn’t let her out. So, that is where the animosity comes from.”
På träningen inför fighten så har Tweet och hennes camp valt att att inte kalla Justino för sitt nickname ’Cyborg’.
“We chose not to call her by her nickname because it humanizes her more,” Sa Tweet. “We’ve all seen her fight. She’s strong. She likes to punch. My background is Thai boxing, but apparently I’m a jiu-jitsu fighter because most of my wins have come via submission. So I’ve actually been waiting for somebody who wants to really stand up with me.”
Tweet har vunnit fem matcher via submission och känner sig bekväm om matchen skulle tas ner till marken.
“I don’t see a whole lot of actual technique,” Sa Tweet om Justinos striking. “There’s not a lot of straight punches. It’s very wide and barraging. My one coach says she’s good at stalking. She’s very good at chasing you down. So, that’s one technique she’s really good at. She seems to be good at that body-lock takedown. So, go for it. I like the ground.”
