Cain Velasquez (13-2) blev under natten av med sin tungviktstitel vid UFC 188 till Fabricio ”Vai Cavalo” Werdum (20-5-1). Efter matchen säger han att han underskattade klimatet i Mexiko City.
Cain Velasquez har under en lång tid varit känd som tungviktaren med bäst kondition, men under nattens match mot Fabricio ”Vai Cavalo” Werdum så gick det inte riktigt att känna igen Velasquez. Efter att ha mottagit flera tunga slag från Werdum så gick Velasquez för en nedtagning i den tredje ronden som slutade med att han blev submittad via en giljotin. Efter matchen berättar han för MMA Fighting att de två veckor han spenderade i Mexiko inför fighten inte var tillräckligt för att acklimatisera sig för luften i landet som är så högt över havsnivå:
