Ben Rothwell är på krigstigen. I en intervju kritiserar han kollegan Travis Brownes beslut att byta gym till Glendale Fighting Club. Rothwell menar att Browne bytte gym för pengarnas skull och att hittat en ”sugar mama” i flickvännen Ronda Rousey.
Travis Browne (18-5-1) var tidigare en del av Jackson-Winklejohn-akademien i Albuquerque, men efter förlusten mot Fabricio Werdum (21-6-1) under 2014 bestämde han sig för att byta fightcamp och flyttade till Glendale Fighting Club (GFC) för att träna under flickvännen Ronda Rouseys tränare Edmond Tarverdyan.

Flytten har sedan tidigare kritiserats av tränaren Mike Winklejohn, som säger att hans forne fighter ”lade alla äggen i en korg” när han flyttade från Albuquerque.
Men tungviktskollegan Ben Rothwell (36-10) tror däremot att Browne bytte gym av finansiella orsaker. Det berättar Rothwell för SiriusXM:
“He’s one of the guys – I try to be nice to him and cool, and the more I learn about him, the more of his history, he’s one of those guys that’s just a man-whore. He’s a phony, and a lot of shit pisses me off with him. Why did you suddenly leave a great camp that made him good and move to a fucking gym that’s got a lot of guys losing? For me, I think it was a financial thing. He went there and found a sugar mama in his girlfriend. He’s just looking to get himself taken care of.”

Sedan flytten till GFC har Browne vunnit två och förlorat tre av sina fem senaste matcher, och som många andra menar Rothwell att det var flytten som fick Brownes karriär att gå utför.
“He’s got some brains in, like, ‘Why should I fight? I’ll just get her to pay for everything.’ It’s a good financial move on his part, but it hasn’t done his personal career any good and a lot of people think the guy has regressed and he’s not getting any better.”
“He’s lost his footwork, he’s lost a lot of different things that made him good,” Rothwell continued. “We’re going to find out with Derrick Lewis. Is the guy going to get motivated? That’s one thing about our sport you can look like you’re just out of it and forgotten about then next thing you know you can resurge yourself.”
Travis Browne går sin nästa match mot Derrick Lewis (17-4, 1 NC) på UFC 208 den 11 februari.
Ben Rothwell har för närvarande ingen match inbokad.
