UFC-mästaren i lättvikt Islam Makhachev drabbade under lördagsnatten samman på UFC-stjärnan Dustin Poirier på UFC 302 i Newark, New Jersey. Efter fyra och en halv tuffa ronder lyckades Makhachev att avsluta amerikanen via submission i den femte ronden. Segern mot Poirier på UFC 302 var lättviktsmästarens fjortonde raka seger i den världsledande MMA-organisationen.
Under intervjun med UFC-kommentator Joe Rogan uttryckte Makhachev att han vill gå match om welterviktstiteln härnäst. UFC-mästaren i weltervikt Leon Edwards kommer att försvara sin titel mot Belal Muhammad på UFC 304 nästa månad.
