Det står nu klart att UFC är i full färd att matcha Khamzat Chimaev mot publikfavoriten Nate Diaz! Welterviktsdrabbningen är inplanerad att agera huvudmatch på UFC 279 den 10 september i Las Vegas, USA.
En match mellan UFC-svensken Khamzat och Diaz har länge varit på tapeten. Diaz har endast en match kvar på sitt kontrakt och har varit öppen med sina intentioner att kliva in i oktagonen en sista gång och sedan lämna organisationen. Enligt UFC försökte de boka in Diaz mot Khamzat vid ett tidigare tillfälle men nu står det alltså klart att UFC-svensken blir Diaz sista match i september istället.
