Under tisdagen meddelades att UFC:s forne tungviktsmästare Frank Mir, 38, var klar för Bellator MMA. Nu står det klart att ännu en UFC-veteran gör övergången. Det handlar om den rutinerade fjäderviktaren Sam Sicilia, som efter fem år och tolv matcher i världens största MMA-organisation nu väljer att lämna för toppkonkurrenten.
Sicilia (15-8) gick sin sista kvarvarande match på UFC-kontraktet den 19 februari i år, då han förlorade via enhälligt domslut. 31-åringen har tre raka UFC-förluster, och har inte vunnit en match sedan han slog Yaotzin Meza via enhälligt domslut i juli 2015.

“It’s really not a step backwards,” säger Sicilia. “It’s a different company, but you still get a shot at beating the big guys and being in the big fights. A lot of guys are moving there. It just feels like a good fit to be around. It’s still the big fight. That’s the biggest thing for me: It’s still on the big stage.”
“I’ve just been staying in the gym, and I really feel like now I’m ready to compete at the highest level. I won’t be a guy that just simply exists in Bellator and go back to the win-lose-win-lose. I’m ready now to put it all together and get this winning streak going,” säger Sicilia.
