Den tidigare UFC-kommentatorn Mike Goldberg är klar för Bellator. Det meddelar organisationen i ett pressmeddelande. Goldberg släpptes av UFC i januari i år och gjorde sin sista UFC-gala på UFC 207 den 31 december. Goldberg hade vid sitt avsked från UFC jobbat i nitton år för organisationen.
Nu blir Goldberg tillsammans med den tidigare PRIDE och WWE-kommentatorn Mauro Ranallo en del av Bellator och de ansluter sig till kommentator-teamet som består av Jimmy Smith, Jenn Brown och den forne UFC-fightern Chael Sonnen. Enligt pressmeddelandet inleds samarbetet redan på Bellator NYC: Sonnen vs. Silva den 24 juni 2017.

”Bellator has signed longstanding MMA commentators Mike Goldberg and Mauro Ranallo to multi-event broadcast agreements beginning with Bellator NYC: Sonnen vs. Silva and Bellator 180: Davis vs. Bader on Saturday, June 24. The move sees Goldberg return to SPIKE for the first time since 2011, while Ranallo reunites with Bellator President Scott Coker, having worked together through 2013. The pair will join a broadcast team that currently includes Jimmy Smith, Jenn Brown and Chael Sonnen,” står att läsa i Bellators pressmeddelande.

Bellator-presidenten Scott Coker gläds av värvningarna, och kallar i ett uttalande Goldberg och Ranallo för två av de bästa i branschen.
“Mike Goldberg and Mauro Ranallo are two of the best in our business and I couldn’t be happier about them joining the Bellator family. In addition to June 24, we look forward to working together to make future Spike broadcasts even more exciting for our fans as we add further depth to an already-exceptional broadcast team,” säger Coker.
Redan i februari rapporterade MMAnytt.se att Goldberg ska ha fört samtal med Bellator. Nu står det alltså klart att MMA-kommentatorn som jobbat med sporten i 20 år ansluter sig till sin forne arbetsgivares huvudkonkurrent. Sedan tidigare står det klart att Bellator släpper sin forne kommentator Sean Grande.
