Gegard Mousasis kontroversiella TKO-vinst över Chris Weidman var den sista på hans aktuella UFC-kontrakt. Över en månad har nu gått – men den Holland-baserade armeniern har ännu inte kunnat komma överens med organisationen om något nytt avtal.
“We want to sign with the UFC,” sa Mousasi i det senaste avsnittet av UFC Tonight. “UFC wants to sign also, so I don’t know. They should pay. I’m co-main event all the time, so it’s not like people don’t know me. (The offer) is not good. We don’t like it.”
Anser sig förtjänt av en redig lön
”The Dreamcatcher”, som kommer från fem raka segrar och just nu rankas på fjärde plats i UFC:s mellanviktsranking, tycker att han förtjänar mer pengar efter så pass lång tid som toppfighter.

“I think I earned it by now. If you’re one of the best fighters you should get paid. Sometimes it’s about nationality. Sage Northcutt, I just heard he’s making $75,000 and $75,000, and the guy is, what, a beginner? Don’t tell me it’s a fair sport,” sa han och fortsatte:
“It has to be something to do with rankings. If you’re one of the best you should get paid as one of the best. I’m up there. Ten years (in the sport), more than that, so I think I’ve earned what I should get next.”

Enligt Mousasi återstår sex veckor innan han tillåts förhandla med konkurrerande organisationer såsom Bellator MMA. 31-åringen hoppas dock att han och UFC kan komma överens och menar att han gärna möter Luke Rockhold härnäst.
“It’s Luke Rockhold, and that’s the fight the UFC wants to make,” sa Mousasi. “I’m up for that. It’s a good fight for me.”
