I huvudmatchen på helgens Venator FC-gala åkte Rousimar Palhares på sin första förlust sedan 2012. Han är dock inte nöjd med matchens utgång – enligt honom var det otillåtna armbågar som fick honom på fall.
Rousimar Palhares (18-7) gjorde nypremiär på Venator FC III i helgen. Han fick lämna WSoF förra året, i samband med att han återigen hållit kvar en submission efter att matchen brutits.

På galan gjorde han upp med Emil Meek (8-2) om titeln i weltervikt. Palhares knockades på under minuten. Han är däremot inte alls nöjd med hur matchen gick till. I en intervju med MMA Fighting hävdar han att motståndaren armbågade honom i bakhuvudet.
”What went wrong in the fight is that I was hit with illegal elbows in the back of the head and couldn’t see anything next. When I was hit, I went out. I kept asking my corners what happened, because I felt a strike in the back of my head and then I just saw the referee in front of me. I was upset because they let him continue after the first strike in the back of the head. I wasn’t in the fight anymore after it.
I didn’t say anything (after the fight) because I was off, but my coaches saw and complained, but nobody did anything.”
Palhares har ännu inte beslutat vad som kommer härnäst, först måste han få besked från läkarna.
”I’m not 100 percent yet. Let me get the MRI done first. I was afraid, but I know I can walk now. It would be devastating to become paralyzed because of an infraction like that. I’m afraid of this MRI results.
About getting the fight overturned, honestly, I’m not worried right now. I just want to be as healthy as I was when I got there. We’ll think about it later.”
