Ali tror inte att Rousey kommer att vinna en rematch mot Holm, utan Ali tror att det kommer att sluta värre än första gången, då Holm också var nervös, men kommer att känna sig mer bekväm i ett returmöte mot Rousey.
”I personally do not think that she’ll beat Holly Holm [in a rematch],” berättade Ali i en intervju med Chael Sonnen. ”I think that if she fought her again, then the same thing and worse will happen. Holly Holm was just getting warmed up. You know what I’m saying? She was just getting warmed up. She had nerves, too. This was her big moment.”
Första matchen som Ali såg med Rousey var då Rousey mötte Bethe Correia (9-1), där Rousey besegrade Correia via KO efter 34 sekunder på UFC 190, men under den korta tiden såg Ali många misstag som Rousey gjorde.
”I noticed right away when the fight started, I was like, ’She doesn’t have any head movement,'” Ali said. ”She came straight in and she got busted in the face so many times where she had a bloody nose.
”I saw that the girl she fought wasn’t really a challenge for her, but I was able to see her mistakes. Not moving your head is a big mistake when you’re getting into the ring with someone who has a boxing background.”
Ali förklarar att Rousey blev upphypad av UFC till att vara den bästa kvinnliga MMA-fightern någonsin och Rousey trodde på sin egen hype berättar Ali.
”People hype fighters up, but at the end of the day, what did Ronda Rousey have? 12 fights, something like that,”sa Ali. ”And they’re calling her the best fighter ever, and I see that she truly believes that about herself.
”You’re only as good as the opposition you face. There were some girls out there I never had the opportunity to face. But I saw Ronda Rousey kind of act like she really does believe that she’s the best female fighter in the world. I was thinking, wow, she hasn’t even faced some of the other girls that are considered to be the best.”
Ali förklarar att hon såg Rouseys frustration i matchen mot Holm.
”You feel stupid,” sa Ali. ”You really do in the ring.”
Ali kände till Holm genom boxningen, men blev överraskad när Holm besegrade Rousey via en huvudspark.
”I was like, whoa,” sa Ali. ”I didn’t think it was gonna happen like that, but I did know that Holly Holm was going to win.”
Holm kommer försvara sin titel mot Miesha Tate (17-5) på UFC 196 och Ali är glad för Holms skull.
”This is her moment,” sa Ali. ”She can make way more money and get way more exposure in the UFC. I’m happy for her.”
