Kampsportslegenden Bas Rutten håller sig fortfarande aktuell inom MMA-världen med bland annat hans TV-program och som kommentator på diverse MMA-galor. Så inför en en av europas största MMA-matcher när svensken Alexander Gustafsson utmanar Jon Jones för lätt tungviktstiteln i UFC, så fick Rutten frågan om att analysera den kommande matchen.
”Well Jones have to face someone who is actually taller than him, I believe. So that is a good thing,” säger Rutten till MMACanada. ”He also has a long reach. I think Gustafsson has better boxing skills. But I think Jones has crazier unorthodox stuff, he does weird hits to the legs, something coming up top. Can Gustafsson stop his takedowns? Because right now, I think Jones has been able to pretty much take everybody down. And he is very dangerous on top, you know. With his ground and pound and his elbows. He is very good with that.

”So I think if it every goes to the ground and Jones is on top, that would be a very big problem for Gustafsson. If he can keep it on his feet, if he uses his jabs and uses the switch he might do really well. It’s a hard fight.”
Alexander Gustafsson vs Jon Jones förväntas att ske på UFC 165 den 21 september. De kommer då att genomföra en match som potentiellt kan bli historisk inom den svenska MMA-scenen, då Gustafsson kan bli den första svensken som tar en UFC-titel.
