Being the champion, he got a bye in the first round and in the second round of the tournament fought highly touted Yann Liasse from Luxembourg. The two were very evenly matched and the first round was very close. The longer the fight lasted, the more Sola Axel took over and used his wrestling to subdue the creative striker.

In the end he won a unanimous decision and moved on to fight the, according to himself, best striker of the whole tournament: Sweden’s Robin Roos from Västerås Fight Club. Roos moved on to the next round with a dominant decision over a very game fighter from New Zealand.
The fight with Roos was extremely even and they traded on the feet, with Axel working for the takedown. As the fight wore on Roos found it harder and harder to stop the frenchmans takedowns and smothering top control.
Axel won the fight via split decision and moved on to fight fellow champion Murad Guseinov from Bahrain. Guseinov fought his way into the semi finals via a decision againt Ukraine.
