“My last two fights have been victories, so I’m just trying to keep building on it,” berättade Voelker för MMAWeekly.com. “I had to go back to the drawing board and bring back my old self and go back to my old ways. I used to go in there and get after people, so that’s what I’ve been doing and I feel a lot better that way.”
“I remember when I was younger and I said I would be done by age 30, but now I’m 36 and I feel like I’m still getting better,” sa han. “I’m still learning, getting stronger and quicker, and I’m able to think better with it all. I haven’t hit my peak.
“Because I’m a better thinker, I put together game plans better. I kind of know more so what to look for just because I’ve seen so much over the years. That’s become a big help for me.”
“From what I’ve seen on video and heard about Mike, he seems like a tough Iowa boy,” sa Voelker. “His seven wins have come by submission, but I’m not worried about that because I’m pretty tough to submit.
“He’s a tough brawler and I’m a tough brawler, so we’re going to get after it, and whoever makes the best choices inside the cage is going to come out with the victory.”
“I’d like to get a couple more wins with Shamrock and hopefully after that it’s enough to get onto a bigger show like a UFC or Bellator,” sa han. “That’s what my goal is.”
