Cage Warriors hade stora och ambitiösa planer för att hålla galor i nya marknader, men den Bagdad-gala blir inte av förrän nästa år.
MMAnytt rapporterade tidigare i månaden om att Cage Warriors 61 skulle hållas i Bagdad, Irak, och därmed bli den första stora och utländska MMA-organsiationen som hållit en MMA-gala i Irak. Organiationen meddelade dock nyligen att de planerna har förändrats. Istället för att äga rum i Bagdad den 14:e december så kommer Cage Warriors 61 nu att hållas i King Hussein Youth City Boxing Arena i Amman, Jordanien den 13:e december.
“My team and I worked extremely hard to make this event in Baghdad happen, but there were too many logistical barriers in our way that meant we couldn’t guarantee that this event would meet CWFC’s high standards of organization and production,” sa Cage Warriors vd Graham Boylan. “I’m never willing to compromise on those standards, so we’ve taken the decision to move the event to Amman instead. This will be our sixth event there, so we’re familiar with the infrastructure and the challenges will subsequently be more familiar and straightforward for us to deal with in this short space of time.”
