Bjorn Rebney berättar hur Bellator resonerat när de satte samman titelmatchen mellan försvarande fjäderviktmästare Daniel Straus och utmanare Pat Curran trots att Curran kommer från förlust.
Bellator har länge stoltserat med att de är organisationen där titlar inte ges, utan förtjänas. Men under nattens Bellator 112 kommer fjäderviktmästare Daniel Straus (22-4) att utmanas av Pat Curran (19-5). Samme Pat Curran som i sin förra match förlorade titeln mot Straus utan att det förelåg några kontroverser eller tveksamheter.
Bellators vd Bjorn Rebney berättar hur organisationen tänkt när de bokade denna tredje match mellan Straus och Curran.
– I had to weigh and balance a lot of factors. Frodo Khasbulaev was the next in line, but he is having a lot of visa issues getting into the country. Next fighter would have been Pitbull but he fought for us literally 5 times on Spike-TV. Curran and Straus, this is their trilogy fight. Given how high Pat was on many rankings I think he was the number 2 in this division and I think this fight is the best match-up for us at the current time. Plus with Pat fighting in his backyard it’s going to be a great trilogy fight, säger Rebney till MMA Sucka.
